TWL rebrands to target UK telecoms growth

Barry-based telecommunications company TWL has chosen the historic South Wales birthplace of wireless telegraphy to launch its new brand identity and a campaign to expand throughout the UK.

The telecoms specialist has unveiled its new corporate branding at Lavernock Point, where Gugliemo Marconi made the world’s first wireless transmission across the sea to Flatholm Island in 1897.

Today, from its base at Ty Verlon Industrial Estate,TWL is helping clients to benefit from sophisticated digital technology tailored to their business needs.

TWL (Technology with Logic) already works with major organisations in Wales – such as the National Probation Service, Milford Haven Port Authority, Golley Slater, and the DVLA. I t is now seeking to grow its client base throughout the UK, and has started by winning a major contract with the Peacock Group to carry out work at its 500 clothing stores.
TWL Managing Director Andrew Nicholson said, “The telecoms market is fast-moving, with a massive amount of new technology and systems becoming available. The huge choice makes it harder for many firms to select the system that is right for them in terms of meeting their current and future needs, as well as paying the right price. Making the wrong choice can be expensive, short-term and therefore bad for business. And that’s where we come in.

“We provide a complete telecommunications service that we guarantee will provide cost-effective communication solutions that anticipate future needs. We’ve been in business for more than a decade and built-up great expertise, coupled with an innovative approach. Our services cover IP telephone systems and maintenance, network cabling, and telecommunications low cost calls, as well as VoIP.”

TWL works in strategic partnerships with top telecoms brands, including,Toshiba,Avaya, Daisy, and the Convergence Group. Mr Nicholson said the rebrand, carried out by Celf Creative, projects a clear and strong identity for the company. It will feature on clothing, vans, stationery, corporate literature and the new-look website.
“Maybe Marconi would be staggered at how far telecoms has come in the 110 years since his historic transmission not far from our offices. He transmitted just over three miles, but today individuals and companies can enjoy instant worldwide communications with no call charges.”

Editor’s note:
On May 13th 1897 Guglielmo Marconi transmitted the first ever wireless signals over water from Lavernock to Flatholm Island. The project had been supported by William Preece, Engineer-in-Chief to the Post Office and George Kemp was a Post Office engineer working with Marconi who kept a diary of the trials.Tests over this 3.3 mile distance were sufficiently encouraging for the receiving equipment to be moved to Brean Down near Weston-super-Mare, the transmission distance now 10 miles.
